Definition of Aerobics

What is the Definition of Aerobics? It is simply the use of physical exercise to improve the oxygen system in the body.

Learn Step-by-Step instructions for each individual aerobic step.

Believe it or not the actual phrase was invented by the United States Air Force! Dr. Cooper, MD and Col. Potts, an exercise physiologist, developed the term and specifics of the exercise.

They were puzzled why some people with great strength were still prone to poor performance when it came to running, swimming, and cycling.

Dr. Cooper wrote a book called “Aerobics” after studying a person’s ability to use oxygen. It was published in 1968.

The book included scientific exercise programs using running, walking, swimming, and bicycling. It became a bestseller and is the basis for almost all modern aerobics we find today.

What was the main point of this book? Work out with sustained, increased heart rate...

...because it’s good for you!
