The definition of flexibility is the ability for the muscles to move around a joint (also called range of motion or ROM). Some examples to stretch these areas are:
There are many benefits that come along with improving flexibility. To find out the areas you might want to work on, take a flexibility test. We can reduce muscle tension, improve posture and even have better coordination!
That really helps those of us who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.
For the more seasoned adult, (the fastest growing age group in America are the 65+ folks!) many of our aging woes can be countered by stretching - such as stiffness and reduced movement.
Safety is also a major issue with muscles and tendons that are too tight.
Having supple muscles goes a long way in preventing injury.
But the best part of being flexible is...
...being able to clip and paint your toenails without grunting, groaning and breaking into a sweat!
